Recovery from a Mommy Makeover
Recovery
Planning ahead for your recovery is important. You will need support during this time with child and household duties. The recovery for breast procedures is usually about 5-10 days, and for an abdominoplasty is generally about 12-14 days. These estimates are on average and may vary depending on your job description. In other words, are you a desk worker? Can or do you work from home? Are you still carrying your babies or children? Does your job require lifting? Can someone help with driving? Planning ahead allows for a stress-free recovery and decreases the risk of complications.
The good news is that the recovery days are not additive for multiple procedures. For example, the recovery for a breast lift and tummy tuck combination is about 14 days before you can drive; it is the same for an abdominoplasty by itself. Therefore, it makes sense to combine procedures from a healing standpoint as well as a cosmetic perspective. Additionally, I feel you can better match the relationship between the breasts and the belly when you plan to do them at the same time. It is not necessary to do so, but once you address one area, you will often be impatient to address the other.
Finally
I see all sorts of women who have great stories and love their kids, but wish they could regain their previous figures. The term “mommy makeover” is a common expression we all use, but sometimes I feel like it indicates that moms are not good enough as they are. Now that I have two children myself, I see what it takes to be a mom, and I can better appreciate all moms just as they are. Of course, a little fixing up is always good for the mind and body, and I enjoy the satisfaction that my patients get when meeting their goals and expectations.
